Dooley's Player's Notes

• SkyFire is actually a character of a friend of mine--the same one who played Breeze, briefly. Caeroch (which I am probably misspelling, apologies to my friend) is a land of her creation, which she writes in. Dooley came about because one Halloween, my friend dressed up as SkyFire and another friend of ours dressed up in simple garb and called herself Camhanoch, SkyFire's apprentice. I didn't have a costume, so I dressed all in black and just started painting my face. Then I put a name to the get-up: Dooley. I decided she was SkyFire's bodyguard. When I realized Li was going to get himself killed, she was the only character I had well-developed who was of a suitably high level to bring in in his place.


• Yes, Nyda had a dragonlance. If you don't know how she got it, you missed a section.


• Nyda was not doing well when Dooley showed up. I know it's partly because Nyda was feeling that she had caused the death of someone she called a friend. I don't know whether the parts of Li's letter that Chantelle didn't edit out having to do with his being in love with Nyda had anything to do with it. I don't think I want to. Let's just say that Nyda wasn't real sane before he died, and less so after. She started wearing the symbol of Mielikki he left for her. She also started wearing what remained of his tunic--which still had bits of charred flesh in it. Gruesome. Chantelle finally managed to get the tunic away from her long enough to wash it, at least, and mend as much as was mendable. Our DM rolled a saving throw to see if the garment survived the treatment, and it did, though it won't hold up too much longer. Chantelle was keeping a sharp eye on her to make sure she remembered to eat and sleep and such, given that she wasn't necessarily sane enough to remember to do those things.


• Dooley drew a paper that said she was to ride a silver dragon into the battle with Takesis. But Dooley can't read, so she asked Zeke to tell her what it said. Little beknownst to Dooley, Zeke has a strong affinity for silver dragons. He made his pickpocket role to swap the papers, telling Dooley that she was riding a bronze. Dooley wouldn't care, but I wanted a silver, dammit. :) And this from a priest of Tymora, who believes in taking whatever fate hands him.


• Takesis was supposed to come into battle with the invasionary force of the Knights of Takesis. When they left her because of her lack of honor, she couldn't hold the areas she attacked anymore, so her goal became destruction, and for that, reds were best.


• If you don't know, a green dragon breathes chlorine gas, which essentially burns or jellifies or something your lungs. Dooley made her saving throw when Takesis's green head caught her full-on. Half-damage took her from sixty-two hit points down to eleven hit points. That's about when she decided if she was going down, she was taking Takesis with her. Not to mention, it probably did really bad things to her war paint, which would have pissed her off considerably, but she'd never tell you that.

• Q: Why does Dooley keep referring to the People?
  A: The culture Dooley is originally from is very tribal, and by "modern" standards, primitive. Most cultures that I know of which are similar in structure call themselves by a name that simply means, in their tongue, the People. Sometimes it's a variant like "the chosen people" or "the people of _____." I could come up for a name for them in Dooley's tongue, but it wasn't really necessary, since she simply translates it.
